Inside the medieval mind of Power (BBC): Think you have it hard as a teen in today's world? Imagine living during this era! Watch this highly intriguing video regarding the sources of power in the Dark Ages.
You will want to jot down a few notes about the following: 1) How did one know his/her place in soceity? 2) Could this be changed? Why/why not? 3) Where did power originate? 4) Who do you think held the most power during the medieval period? 5) What did people do with this power?

D. Chart Assignment:
So, how did power change for emperors during the medieval period? Recreate this chart on a piece of white copy paper. Using your textbook (Chapter 8, Sections 1 & 2), fill in the information based on readings and lectures.

E. What Do You Think?
While arguments can be made for multiple answers, you must commit to only one. Consider the readings, lecture, and video to respond to the class poll. Results will be posted by the end of the week.

F. Forum Posting Assignment:
All answers must be posted to the Student Postings Forum (week 2 thread) no later than midnight on Friday, April 6th. Also, don't forget to reply to at least TWO of your classmates' week 2 postings with an additional example related to the topic, a rebuttal, or a question by midnight on Wednesday, April 11th.
Consider your response to the class poll (“Who do you think held the most power during the medieval period?”). Write an 150-250 word essay explaining your answer choice; be sure to use specific examples from the lecture, readings, and video to support your response.
